How do you calculate work hours minus lunch break?
Calculate total elapsed time between your clock-in and clock-out timestamps, convert that into minutes, subtract your unpaid lunch break minutes, and then convert the remaining minutes back into hours and decimal hours.
How does daily overtime work?
In jurisdictions with daily overtime laws (such as California), any work hours beyond 8 hours in a single workday are paid at 1.5 times your regular base rate, and hours beyond 12 are paid at double time.
What if my work shift spans overnight across midnight?
Our work calculator automatically recognizes when your clock-out time is earlier on the clock than your clock-in time (e.g. in at 10:00 PM, out at 06:30 AM) and treats the shift as continuous across midnight.
